The National eLearning Center participates in the celebration of the Open Education (OE) Week, alongside other countries worldwide. The OE week takes place from 7-11 March every year, intending to enrich the open educational content, enhance the values of participatory content among individuals, and demonstrate the pioneering experiences with which the national scientific and knowledge field relates on this occasion.
The Open Education Week highlights the most prominent achievements and innovations in open education from all over the world and provides practitioners, teachers, students, and all interested parties with promising opportunities to learn and share open content, which contributes to building a greater understanding of open educational practices and leveraging from local and global models in developing open educational practices.
NeLC is organizing virtual webinars on the Open Education Week, which discuss the role of open educational resources in achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and the impact of open practices on open educational resources. Additionally, the webinars will also discuss the role of institutions’ leadership in adopting open educational resources with the participation of distinguished experts and specialists. The Center also publishes several introductory materials on open educational resources.
NeLC is a supervisory body for the National Program for Open Educational Resources in accordance with Council of Ministers’ decision No 35 dated 19/01/1439 AH. It is a national program aims to enrich open educational content through licensing process that allows others to publish, reuse and share high-quality open educational content for free of, among several enablers that NeLC works to provide.
The Global Open Education Week has been running since 2012 by Open Education Global and allows everyone to participate and enrich the content to contribute to the transfer of distinctive experiences in open educational practices and leverage from them.
