The National eLearning Center (NeLC), in partnership with Qassim University and Amazon, concluded the Innovate for Education hackathon. The three-day event was held at Qassim University from Monday, May 11, 2026, to Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The hackathon aimed to empower participants to develop innovative digital solutions using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance the educational process. It provided an interactive, competitive environment bringing together students and specialists to generate actionable ideas. During the event, NeLC conducted an introductory workshop on the AI Sandbox in digital learning, an initiative designed to provide a safe and flexible environment for developers, practitioners, and institutions. Furthermore, NeLC provided mentorship and supervision for over 35 participating projects across four diverse tracks and contributed to the judging process.
The closing ceremony witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NeLC and Qassim University. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in research and innovation in digital learning, while supporting and empowering promising AI solutions through the AI Sandbox in digital learning.
Organizing the Innovate for Education hackathon is an extension of NeLC’s role in enabling innovation and supporting AI-driven digital solutions. Such initiatives contribute to the development of the digital learning ecosystem and enhance the sector's readiness for a more efficient and innovative future.
