The National eLearning Center (NeLC) is participating in Open Education Week (OE Week) from March 3–7, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote open education through various initiatives and activities. These efforts aim to foster open education and enrich eLearning content. NeLC continues its efforts in advancing the concept of open education in Saudi by providing a wide range of open educational resources designed to expand learning opportunities, enhance access to knowledge, and empower lifelong learning for all.
One of NeLC’s flagship initiatives is the National Program for Open Educational Content, which enriches educational content across Saudi by enabling individuals and institutions to publish, reuse, and share open educational resources (OER) for free. The program is powered by the National Open Educational Resources Platform (OERx), which hosts over 30,000 educational resources, made available for all, and contributed by more than 120 public, private, and nonprofit institutions.
As part of OE Week, NeLC is organizing 3 webinars to promote open education, raise awareness of its benefits among individuals and institutions, enrich open educational content, and facilitate knowledge exchange with experts locally and globally.
In addition, NeLC is developing frameworks and standards to ensure the quality of open educational content, making it easier to use and share. Through these initiatives and activities, NeLC seeks to enrich open educational content, strengthen the values of collaborative content, showcase leading local and international OER experiences, empower institutions to enhance the quality of open education outcomes, and align efforts to build and share open educational content. Ultimately, these efforts aim to provide and sustain diverse digital learning opportunities.
