NeLC Launches AI Competencies for Digital Learning

The National eLearning Center (NeLC) has launched the AI Competencies for Digital Learning to enhance the readiness of practitioners in the sector. These competencies aim to enable individuals to effectively and responsibly employ AI technologies in digital learning and training environments, serving as a comprehensive reference that outlines the essential skills and knowledge required for optimal use of this technology.

These competencies cover key dimensions that include: understanding and familiarity with AI and technology, pedagogical integration of AI in teaching, assessment and evaluation, ethics and responsibility, continuous professional development to keep pace with technological advancements, data management, and learner support. The competencies are structured across progressive levels, enabling practitioners to develop their skills in a way that ensures the sustainable and innovative integration of technology into the learning process.

The competencies also focus on developing practitioners' skills in several areas, such as human-centered AI, AI ethics and responsible use, understanding fundamental AI concepts, designing learning experiences with AI technologies, and fostering critical analysis to enhance independent thinking and data-driven decision-making.
