King Saud University Joins Makken Initiative

The National eLearning Center signed a memorandum of understanding with King Saud University to become a partner in “Makken” initiative for the Professional Certificates in eLearning. The memorandum was signed by the Director General of the National eLearning Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Alwalidi and the Vice Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs at King Saud University, Dr. Muhammad bin Saleh Alnumay.

The memorandum of understanding aims to promote professional development and strengthen cooperation between the two parties in the professional certificate program issued by the National eLearning Center through the “Makken” initiative for university students enrolled in programs related to eLearning. With the support of the Center, the initiative helps them obtain professional certificates (foundational level) after graduation by improving their knowledge and developing their skills and abilities to achieve performance excellence, raise quality, and enhance trust in the practices of eLearning.

Dr. Alwalidi confirmed that this partnership with King Saud University is an extension of the cooperation between the two parties. The “Makken” initiative aims to enhance trust in eLearning and ensure that students are equipped with the most in-demand skills in line with the highest international standards and future-oriented practices in eLearning. He stated that this agreement will be directly reflected in empowering graduates of related programs by obtaining three professional certificates (foundational level) in eLearning. The National eLearning Center seeks to achieve full integration with the Saudi universities to equip individuals with skills and abilities required by the labor market through high quality eLearning.

For his part, Dr. Alnumy indicated that this cooperation with the Center coupled with the tireless and continuous efforts of the University and demonstrates its keen interest to establish partnerships and agreements with various institutions that contribute to enhancing and developing the skills of King Saud University students professionally. This in return will improve their chances to enter the labor market.

It is noteworthy that this memorandum is the 12th in the series  of memoranda with universities in regard to the “Makken” initiative. Besides King Saud University, the initiative also includes Najran University, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Jeddah University, Hail University, King Khalid University, Qassim University, Jazan University, Bisha University, Northern Border University, Al-Jouf University, and Princess Noura University.
