His Excellency the Minister of Education, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NeLC, Dr. Hamad Mohammed Alsheikh, launched the National eLearning Platform ‘’FutureX’’ in the presence of the Excellencies the Members of the Board.
Dr. Alsheikh emphasized that FutureX is a part of the effort to achieve the targets of the Kingdom's ambitious Vision 2030 in providing lifelong learning opportunities, promoting integration and the sharing economy in the sector, and contributing to the creation of an innovative learning experience with approved standards that meet the future demands.
FutureX is one of the initiatives developed by NeLC, which aims to empower the institutions in the eLearning sector in the Kingdom, by connecting providers and beneficiaries according to a governance that ensures quality and equal opportunities. FutureX aims to enhance trust in eLearning, provide learning opportunities that meet the needs of the future, improve the agility in eLearning and enhance its efficiency.
FutureX offers 3 main services: provide learning platforms by connecting eLearning providers with qualified providers, create learning content by trusted creators according to a methodology based on the best practices, as well as facilitate cooperation and build local and global partnerships between eLearning providers and institutions to make the optimal use of expertise and applying the best practices in eLearning.
FutureX offered ASAS initiative that aims to promote integration between Saudi universities to enable them to build a customized learning experience through the course repository, to access courses and basic skills for undergraduates using massive open online courses. This comes in the light of promoting integration between universities in creating learning content and access to general preparation content and basic skills.
FutureX integrates with several local and global partners: Ethrai from the Institute of Public Administration, Red Sea Company, edX, Coursera and FutureLearn to provide content and services and sharing knowledge and expertise, to enhance eLearning efficiency and provide eLearning opportunities based on the needs.
It is worth mentioning that NeLC is keen to support and enable the institutions to provide trusted, high-quality in accordance to the best standards, to enable qualified citizens with capabilities and skills related to the labor market in order to achieve the national targets.
