Wednesday, 23 June 2021, Riyadh Chamber, represented by the National Education Committee and National Training Centers Committee, hosts a meeting to introduce the procedures for licensing eLearning and training providers in cooperation with the National eLearning Center. The meeting involves several experts, stakeholders, and private school owners and training Centers in Riyadh.
Dr. Abdulrahman Alhaqbani, Head of the National Education Committee stated that the private education sector was able to successfully implement eLearning solutions during the Covid-19 pandemic. He pointed out that the transition to eLearning through adopting modern technologies to support various means of education, continuing the educational process without affecting students’ learning due to schools’ suspension have contributed to the delivery of the educational mission effectively.
Dr. Alhaqbani continued that education is on the top of the Kingdom’s priorities in the privatization program; aiming at ensuring high quality of educational outcomes, reducing the economic burden, and contributing to achieving the objectives of the national vision to invest in human capital.
In addition, Mr. Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Alshewaier, NeLC Deputy Director-General for Operations Management, welcomed all representatives of the private sector, commending their efforts in promoting the eLearning/training, which had a great impact on advancing the national development despite all challenges, and contributing to creating an appropriate learning environment by investing modern technologies to enhance the teaching and learning process.
Mr. Alshewaier highlighted the importance of fostering joint efforts and collaborations with the private sector to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of the transformation towards eLearning.
During the meeting, Mr. Alshewaier also detailed the Licensing process and standards for both eLearning programs and institutions linking these procedures to the international eLearning best practices. These standards cover various aspects of eLearning including leadership, technology, training and support, design and interaction, equity and accessibility, assessment and evaluation pointing out that the NELC is conducting training sessions to raise awareness on licensing procedures and institutional standards.
This meeting is part of a series of events focusing on promoting collaboration with the education/training private institutions planning to provide eLearning and training programs in Riyadh. The goal is to enable such institutions to obtain the required licenses before the end of the granted period. Other key objectives are to enhance the efficiency of eLearning providers in the Kingdom, promoting its quality, lead innovation in digital transformation in education and achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to improve human capabilities, integrate and empower the private sector, contribute to improving the outcomes of learning and training at all levels through education, qualification and training programs in alignment with the national visions.
The National eLearning Center was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers. Aims to Governing and regulating eLearning and training in Saudi Arabia, enhancing trust in eLearning programs, enabling integration among educational institutions and employers, leading innovation in the sector, and developing and measuring the eLearning indicators.
