His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Alsheikh directed NeLC to conduct astudy for distance learning in K-12 and HE in cooperation with specialized international institutions.
The Director General of NeLC Dr. Abdullah Alwalidi said that the study includes discussing all the challenges in the distance learning and how to deal with them, exploring future improvements opportunities, benchmarking with international experiences, conducting surveys to collect beneficiaries' views, measuring the impacts on efficiency and effectiveness, and the level of satisfaction resulting from the implementation of distance learning. Dr. Alwalidi stated that the study includes recommendations for the future of distance learning at the national level.
Dr. Alwalidi confirmed that the Minister’s direction is part of the huge efforts made by K-12 and HE institutions in distance learning during COVID-19. and the desire to assess this experience according to scientific, professional, and educational methodologies, present it by an independent institution to achieve the Ministry's strategic objectives in the next phase represented by increasing and expanding the areas and applications of this mode of education, work on developing it in the future, as eLearning after the pandemic will not be the same as before .
Dr. Alwalidi indicated that NeLC will coordinate with the Ministry and universities to conduct the study in cooperation with specialized international research centres, stressing that this study will cover all aspects of the distance learning during the pandemic and after it, to learn about the advantages realized for students and their parents, teachers, and faculty. as well as empower and enhance the distance learning ecosystem in K-12 and HE institutions to develop their expertise and practices in the future.
