On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the National eLearning Center (NeLC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Intel at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Riyadh, aiming to collaborate on implementing the "AI for Citizens" initiative launched by the Ministry to equip citizens with the latest skills in artificial intelligence and digital technologies to enhance the capabilities of national competencies in modern technical fields.
NeLC was represented by the Deputy Director General for Empowerment, Dr. Hajar bin Asfour, while Intel was represented by the General Manager for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Mr. Dermot Hargaden.
The memorandum aims to establish a strategic framework for cooperation between the two parties, based on mutual interests in supporting innovation in eLearning and developing digital capabilities. Aspects of cooperation include the "AI for Citizens" initiative, and joint work opportunities that align with (FutureX) platform to provide high-quality eLearning and develop digital skills by empowering the eLearning and training sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The memorandum also includes cooperation within the AI in Digital Learning Sandbox initiative through case studies, experiments, simulations, and joint projects that employ AI technologies in educational environments, and it also includes developing and offering micro-credential programs within (MicroX) initiative to support lifelong learning and recognition of skills in different sectors, in addition to exploring other areas of cooperation to support the eLearning ecosystem, enhance innovation, and exchange knowledge between the two parties.
