The National Open Educational Resources Platform (OERx), an initiative of the National eLearning Center, has been awarded the 2025 OEGlobal Award for Excellence in Open Education in the Innovation in Open Educational Resources category — one of the world’s most prestigious awards recognizing efforts to advance knowledge sharing and foster open education.

This national milestone reflects the unwavering support extended to the education sector by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. It underscores the Kingdom’s continued commitment to innovation in education and to providing equitable access to high-quality learning resources that empower individuals and contribute to building a globally competitive knowledge society.

The award highlights Saudi Arabia’s leadership in open eLearning and its influential role in driving educational excellence and expanding access to learning opportunities. This aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to develop human capabilities and strengthen the foundations of a sustainable knowledge economy.

This recognition further reinforces the Kingdom’s global standing among the leading nations shaping the future of open education—alongside countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and Germany.

The OERx Platform stands as one of Saudi Arabia’s pioneering initiatives, enabling educational and research institutions, educators, and learners to create, share, and enrich open educational content. Through this effort, OERx supports innovative digital learning practices and contributes to expanding the reach of knowledge both locally and globally.
